Celebrating International Women's Day with Anna Segal, Taylor Godber and Maude Raymond.

Our female team riders inspire us to go deeper, higher and push boundaries further than we ever thought possible. Because of them we are committed to developing cold weather apparel that will allow women to conquer mountains while staying protected from the elements. While they’re busy inspiring us, turns out they have their own sources of empowerment. Find out more about what drives the ladies of OYUKI to do what they do…

Anna Segal

Name a woman in skiing / snowboarding who you admire and tell us why.

Leanne Pelosi (snowboarder). She has done so much with her career, competed, filmed as an athlete, produced a revolutionary female snowboard film, and now she’s also producing for large brands, alongside continuing to film groundbreaking snowboard parts. I don’t know how she fits so much into her day, but it’s very inspiring to watch.

Name a woman outside of skiing / snowboarding who inspires you and why.

My Mum! She’s a medical professor and at the top of her field in research. She somehow balanced having four children with her career and has been an amazing role model for me.

What is your favourite thing about a ski mission with a group of ladies?

I think the communication and encouragement. Not saying that guys don’t do this, but it seems to be amplified between a group of women.

What is one of your fave items from the OYUKI women’s range and why?

Definitely the Chika Mitt. Similar to a lot of other women, I run pretty cold and my fingers are usually the first to feel it. It’s the warmest mitt in the Oyuki line, but it comes in all kinds of pretty colours and the goatskin leather gives it that added style.

Taylor Godber

Victoria Jealouse was always the female rider I looked up to & still do to this day, it always felt like she exemplified both power and grace in her riding. In current times, I look up to Hilaree Nelson for sure, she’s a total badass.

All the women in my life inspire me for many different reasons. Some for the way they are such integral parts of holding their community together, some for the way they raise their children, others for their unwavering commitment to their partners, some for how much heart they pour into their passions, and many for being authentically and genuinely themselves in whatever arena that might be. The women that live in alignment with their purpose, that comes from the heart, that are compassionate, empathetic, kind, and harness their power for the good of the world in a graceful way–they are who inspire me.

What is your favourite thing about a snowboard mission with a group of ladies?

Trips with a crew of ladies usually yields more health-conscious food choices and snacks, and I can get down with that.

What is one of your fave items from the OYUKI women’s range and why?

The Maad GTX Mitts are my fave item from the Oyuki line as they keep my hands toasty with style.

Sarah Burke is always someone I looked up to (rest in peace). The way she pushed women’s skiing, her personality and the way she dealt with her career is inspiring to say the least. Just yesterday I thought of her alot as I was out in the back country with a couple of amazing girls. But basically, there are for sure other women in the game atm that I look up to. Pretty much every girl that creates her own path towards what she believes in is inspiring and keep me going collaboratively as well.

It’s so hard to answer to that question because there are a lot of women who inspire me. From my best friend who is an accountant, all the moms out there raising beautiful rad kids, girls who shape their lifes how they want it and professional athletes and professional women pushing their boundaries everyday. Woman who are passionate in what ever they do is just inspiring. Also my grandmother, my mami and my mom who are the strongest women I know.

What is your favourite thing about a snowboard mission with a group of ladies?

I like team work between ladies. Pushing each other. Mutual aid between all of us is why women’s trips are great I think. You always come back with an uplifting spririt.

I like it all but I would lie if I didn’t say that I have a a big crush on my own MAAD signature mitt. :)
