Introducing Eric Jackson’s signature model. The E-JACK GTX glove.

Put simply, Eric Jackson is everything that’s right in the world. His progressive approach to riding is matched only by that of his lifestyle, where he values nature, simplicity, and good times with his people. We’ve been big fans of E-Jack’s finesse and style on the mountain since he came on the snowboarding scene many moons ago, and over the years as we’ve gotten to know more about the man behind the riding, felt a natural kinship to him. E-Jack’s beard may get a lot of press, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s just the powder on the pillow.

Last season, we were stoked to welcome Eric to the OYUKI team and to our Niseko, Japan playground. It was on that trip where we got to work developing, testing, and refining his dream glove – a mid-weight, one-quiver glove that would work for all his deep pow endeavours, from resort shredding to backcountry missions to sled riding. The result is a snowboarding glove that fully embodies the OYUKI design principle – simplicity is the key to functionality. Like all OYUKI premium gloves and mitts, we’ve selected only the best materials to be used in a clean, efficient design, allowing you to comfortably stay out on the mountain longer.

Outer shell:

The outer shell is made from premium water-resistant goatskin leather because it is incredibly durable, yet soft and pliable. We then reinforced the palm, giving it extra protection as it typically takes a brunt of the wear and tear.

“No matter how streamlined the profile, you’re always going to have to take your gloves on and off throughout the day, and I just wanted to simplify that. To make it a little bit easier.” -EJ

For that, we developed a pull tab for easy entry. We knew the construction would need to be super tough, as constant pulling on the tab will wear over time, so it’s been heavily reinforced.

To further assure a snug fit, YKK zips have been added at the wrist so you can lock it down when you head out and a suede thumb patch allows you to wipe the snow off your goggles after blasting through pillows and endless face shots.

“The emblem is the logo that I’ve been using on my signature products over the last seven to eight years. It’s something that we designed that represents some of the core elements of my life, with the triangle being mountains, and then the banjo and tree…it’s pretty self-explanatory, but I’ve always just thought it was a cool design.” – EJ

We use GORE-TEX membranes in all our premium gloves and mitts because it’s the most durably waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane on the market – guaranteed. The E-JACK has been independently tested by GORE-TEX to meet GORE active requirements, meaning this glove will keep the warm in and the cold out.

To achieve that performance fit E-Jack requested, we selected a combination of PrimaLoft® insulations, known as the leader for providing warmth without bulk. PrimaLoft is also water-resistant, lightweight, and breathable, so throughout a variety of conditions your hands stay warm and dry.

PrimaLoft Gold is used on the top side of the glove for warmth and protection, while PrimaLoft Grip is on the palm side for a no-slip grip and a stable hold on anything from a split boarding pole to a sled throttle.

“It’s kind of that perfect meet-in-the-middle degree of warmth. For riders who do it all, it’s the ideal weight that you should be able to wear all season long. To me, this is kind of the perfect glove.” – EJ

To finish it off, we used a super plush tricot lining to give the gloves that soft-like-buttah feeling.

“A lot of times with signature products, it takes a few goes to get it right, but I think we nailed it on this one. I’m just really impressed with how easy the design process was for this glove. Like I just explained to OYUKI’s design team what I was looking for, without any CAD drawings or anything, and they were able to take my vision and bring it to life. From start to finish, the whole thing just had this natural flow to it.”

The feeling’s mutual E-Jack. Time to smash some pow.
